Good people....
A keen young fan of Minimal music, David Starr, came to our attention here @ Manga Republic recently. David is a graphic design student @ University of Canberra who spends virtually all of his spare time listening to an ever expanding range of Minimal music from around the world. He recently installed an online music exhibition featuring his favorite genre. He has agreed for Manga Republic to highlight this installation and it is with great pleasure that we introduce David's 'Minimal Exhibition' to you.
Be prepared to expand your musical horizon.......
MINIMAL EXHIBITION (by David Starr, April 2009)
Welcome to the Minimal Music Exhibition. Let us start by giving you the background on what minimal (minimal techno) music is...
'Minimal techno is a form of electronic dance music that is considered a minimalist sub-genre of techno. It is characterized by a stripped-down aesthetic that exploits the use of repetition, and understated development. This style of dance music production generally adheres to the motto less is more; a principle that has been previously utilized, to great effect, in architecture, design, visual art, and Western art music.'
This exhibition will take you on a tour of the history of the minimal genre, the genres that have influenced minimal and some contemporary minimal music.
